In February this year, the City of Cape Town implemented level 6B water restrictions. This increase is massive for heavy water users. The Citi Grid Smart water meter portal has found several leaks in apartment blocks over the past 3 years. The two major leaks we are finding are cistern fed toilet mechanism failing causing water to run constantly. The second water loss incident occurs from your geyser pressure control valves becoming faulty. We have put together the costs of water costs relating to the above mentioned water leak costs.
These leaks could have been stopped if tenants where home or there was a shut off valve for maintenance purposes outside the apartment.
